From Edinburgh and the North

A1 to Haddington
At Haddington take A199 (this was formerly the A1) to East Linton, but do not go into East Linton
After passing East Linton turnoff take second right turning signposted "Traprain, Whittingehame, Stenton"
Pass under new carriageway and turn right at T-junction to Traprain and Whittingehame
Continue along this road towards Whittingehame (follow white lines) for just under 2.5 miles
After a steep descent and rise, at top of hill, just before road doglegs round end of wall with village notice-board, take right turning signposted "Papple, Garvald, Haddington"
Take second left up short private road to back door of Garden Lodge

From Berwick and the South

A1 to Dunbar
At Dunbar take A199 (this was formerly the A1) to East Linton, but do not go into East Linton
After passing East Linton turnoff at roundabout take first left turning signposted "Traprain, Whittingehame, Stenton"
Pass under new carriageway and turn right at T-junction to Traprain and Whittingehame
Continue along this road towards Whittingehame (follow white lines) for just under 2.5 miles
After a steep descent and rise, at top of hill, just before road doglegs round end of wall with village notice-board, take right turning signposted "Papple, Garvald, Haddington"
Take second left up short private road to back door of Garden Lodge

From A68

At north end of Soutra take A6368 through Humbie
At crossroads with B6355 turn right to Gifford
Go through Gifford to left turning on B6370
Proceed along B6370 past Garvald turnings to T junction
At T junction turn left, signposted to Papple and Whittingehame. Follow this road to T junction and turn right
Proceed along straight and take second right up short private road to back door of Garden Lodge
